The 2016 Grammys aired February 15th and we've got  the fashion some of the  2016 Grammy winners wore.  Our predictions were right in the Album Of The Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best New Artist categories.   We predicted Taylor Swift would win both Album of The Year AND Best Pop Vocal Album.  But enough about that, let's talk fashion.  A trend of the night was  dresses and skirts with hip or waist high slits to reveal LOTS of leg as shown by Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Ciara, and Lady Gaga.

So let's get down to the fashion and how you can recreate their looks for less.

Taylor Swift wore a brightly colored maxi skirt paired with a contrasting brightly colored crop top.  To achieve a look similar to hers, try sewing the BurdaStyle Inverted Maxi Skirt and insert the slit, depending on the pattern.  For the top, sew up Phuong's Cropped Bustier Top.  It looks a bit long but you may be able to shorten it to your desired length.

Carrie Underwood wore a long strapless black dress with a sexy thigh high slit.    A similar look can be achieved with this McCall's pattern.  If you're an experienced sewer, you can tweak it to achieve the feathered bra cups and gathered fabric above the slit.

Meghan Trainor  wore a sleek, sparkly gown with a knee length slit in the front.  This vogue pattern is similar with the exception of the slit and v-neck.

Try making the suggested patterns and you'll have that star studded celebrity style.  Let us know how it turns out in the comments below and check out photos from the night on grammy.com.  "Forget the fashion, how can I GO to the grammys" you may be asking.  A chance to bid on grammy tickets is up for grabs on eBay in support of the Grammy Foundation.  If you win, why not wear the dress that you made!
