As mentioned in a prophetic line from one of the Netflix trailers for The Crown, "The Crown must win. Must always win." And so it did, at the 2017 Emmys. For Costume Design that is. Though it received 13 overall Emmy nominations, surprisingly it won only a measly 3, including the win for Outstanding Periond/Fantasy Costumes For A Series, Limited Series Or Movie. Just as we predicted.
Congratulations to Costume Designer Michele Clapton on a job well done. All you have to do is watch any of the trailers and you'll see the exquisite costumes and the level of detail that must have went into them. Based on a Netflix interview, 300-350 Principal costumes and 7,000 Extra costumes were made.

Personally, we love pretty much every single exquisite gown/dress we've seen in the trailers and internet photos.
In our take, The Crown narrates a series of lessons taught through generations. From Queen Mary to Queen Elizabeth. I think we all would be wise to take a lesson from Michele and always pay great attention to detail in every project that we make.
